President's 2008 Message
Dear Customers, Supporters and Friends:
2007 was a wonderful year and we hope to make 2008 even better. The purpose of this message is to let folks know how we are doing, improvements we are making, and how we will continue to provide outstanding services (see our quotations page) for 2008 and beyond. We will note coverage areas, business points, growing pains, and futures.
To date, we have over eight sitters covering two states and the District of Columbia. That is over 11 counties of coverage--and growing. As a company, we have watched over 1,500 birds/exotics and have well over 500 customers. We continue to provide a high level of value and service. We are working on solidifying additional partners and our referral business is outstanding.
From a business perspective, the growth has been steady and, at times dramatic: Over the past 2.5 years, our average gross revenues have increased by 129% per year. Our average net income performance has also been phenomenal: over 147% increase per year! This is an incredible accomplishment. According to data provided by Pet Sitters International, most new pet sitting companies barely break even after 3 years, let alone prosper. Our idea and vision have, quite literally, "taken off." Our scheduling and back up systems are proven and rock solid. We have NEVER missed a date for sitting! Not once.
That said, we have also had some growing pains. Slow response times on various communication (contracts/email/phone) and resolution on billing have started to occur. Most are minor and occur rarely. My pledge is to get these challenges squared away and ensure that each customer is happy and their pets are well cared for. We have put in place several measures that will eliminate these "growing pains."
To the original
set of customers and advisors, thank you for helping refine our business plans
and we hope to continue our positive relationships. Without you, there
would be no M2--period.
From a futures perspective, there are so many things to note. We are looking at facilities for expansion of services (that is all I can say now....). There is new pricing to help all of our prospects and customers. It is called FlexBook and to learn more, click on this link FlexBook Rates. Next, our advertising budget will be increased substantially (we are looking at Northern Virginia Magazine, Washington Post, Leesburg Today, "remote coverage" local papers, shows and direct mail are all under consideration). This will help our visibility in all the markets we serve. In addition, we are looking to get additional areas of coverage. If you know someone that can help, send them along. I only hire and work with people that come referred or are customers. This ensures a high level of competence and trust. The website will also be updated more regularly and become more dynamic. It will be a busy 2008.
Lastly, my family
would like to wish each of you a great holiday season and a successful and safe
2008. I appreciate the feedback and comments you have shared with me and I hope
to do more. To all of the sitters, I cannot express my gratitude enough.
It has been a great year! Thanks for
your patience and feedback. To all of our business partners and folks that
refer us, we thank you as well!
What started out as a "crazy and stupid" idea, has sprouted wings! For that, I will be forever in your debt.
Safe travels and all the best for the future!
